Bob Saget’s Legacy: Ending Scleroderma

Even before losing his sister to the disease in 1994, Bob Saget was a devoted champion for the scleroderma community. Beginning in 1991, he performed at—and later went on to be the host and producer of—SRF’s signature Cool Comedy • Hot Cuisine fundraising event, to help raise awareness and funds for medical research.

Bob went on to serve as a member of the Board of Directors and played a pivotal role in the organization’s success by actively contributing to the day-to-day operations and strategic vision. He met with patients, built lasting relationships through his gift of laughter and storytelling, and shared his personal experiences with the tragic impact of the disease in countless press interviews to keep the media spotlight on scleroderma.  Bob passionately sought to find a cure and was deeply dedicated to the mission of the SRF.

Watch For Hope

In honor of his sister Gay’s memory, 25 years ago Bob directed and executive produced a television movie for ABC that was loosely based on her story called For Hope, starring Dana Delany. Today, this film continues to raise awareness of this disease and the need for research.
