Interstitial Lung Disease (ILD) Day

Interstitial Lung Disease (ILD) is one of the most serious complications of scleroderma, affecting how people breathe and live each day.

ILD Day is an annual awareness campaign recognized each September as part of Pulmonary Fibrosis Awareness Month. Every year, the Scleroderma Research Foundation joins a collaboration of 13 organizations serving people affected by ILD and related conditions to raise awareness, share resources, and bring the ILD community together.

Learn About ILD

If you’re living with scleroderma, it’s important to be aware of the early symptoms of ILD. This complication occurs when inflammation and scarring injure the lungs, making it difficult to breathe and get oxygen to the bloodstream.

15% of people living with scleroderma have ILD

Shortness of breath is an early symptom

Can cause fatigue and chest discomfort

Hear From Others in the Community

No one understands what it’s like to live with ILD quite like someone who’s been through it. Explore stories from patients and families managing life with interstitial lung disease, from the early symptoms they dismissed to the daily realities of monitoring and treatment.

Share Your Story

If ILD has been part of your scleroderma journey, sharing your experience can help others recognize the signs earlier and feel less alone in navigating a diagnosis. Contact us if you’d like your story featured on our social media and blog.
