In 1992, President George H. W. Bush met with SRF Founder Sharon Monsky and SRF Board Member Susan Feniger to honor their dedication to raising awareness about a rare and little-known autoimmune disease, scleroderma.
Through Sharon and Susan’s efforts, the Scleroderma Research Foundation led a nationwide campaign to pass bills in U. S. Senate and the House of Representatives which would dedicate an entire month to scleroderma awareness. The bills passed, and President George H. W. Bush proclaimed June 1992 to be the first-ever National Scleroderma Awareness Month.
Today, 30 years later, the SRF is just as dedicated to keeping a spotlight on scleroderma…. not just one month a year, but every day, until we find a cure. Join us now on our mission to find a cure and help us get more people #SayScleroderma so we will one day end this disease.
