Cure Crew: Advocates for a Cure

Join Cure Crew and make a difference to the thousands of people living with scleroderma. Cure Crew is a grassroots volunteer program with the goal of raising funds and awareness for scleroderma research. Participating members can launch an awareness-building digital campaign or organize a fundraising event in their city.

From bowling tournaments to walks, comedy shows to birthday campaigns, Cure Crew members across the country are joined together for a shared cause — their belief in the power of research to help scleroderma patients live longer, fuller lives and lead us closer to a cure. For Jodi McIver, supporting the SRF is truly a family affair. When her sister and best friend, Becky, was diagnosed with scleroderma in 2003, Jodi was determined to make an impact. “I wanted to do something in honor of her…and not in memory.” So three years ago, Jodi consulted with her family and began a walk — Moving Forward for a Cure — in their hometown of Troy, Ohio to raise funds for the SRF. The entire McIver clan and friends get involved in the effort. This year, even a three-year old got into the act, setting-up a lemonade stand at the walk and raising $53 toward a cure! “I am committed to [doing the walk] every year and to raising awareness,” Jodi remarks. “Most of all, I like that the SRF is all about the research.”

Best Medicine Comedy Show

The Best Medicine annual fundraiser for scleroderma research in Philadelphia is a labor of love for SRF Cure Crew member Maureen Connors-McBride and her family. They founded the Best Medicine comedy and dinner event in 2015 as a way to honor their mother, Patty, who passed away from scleroderma.
