Webinars from the Scleroderma Research Foundation

Below are playlists of webinars on a range of topics relevant to people living with scleroderma. Whether you’re new to this disease or very familiar, there’s something here for everyone.

Scleroderma Fundamentals: What This Disease Is and Its Complications

Scleroderma Overview

What should you know about scleroderma symptoms, diagnosis, and treatment? Marcin Trojanowski, MD from Boston University shares a clear and informative overview designed to help patients, caregivers, and advocates better understand the fundamentals of scleroderma. Learn about the disease’s symptoms, diagnosis, treatment options, and what current research means for the future.

Scleroderma Vascular Complications

If you or a loved one lives with Raynaud’s or digital ulcers, this session is for you. Tracy Frech, MD, MS (Vanderbilt University) breaks down the science behind Raynaud’s phenomenon, digital ulcers, and vascular complications in systemic sclerosis and discusses the latest treatment approaches.

Scleroderma Gastrointestinal Involvement and Nutrition

What should you consider when thinking about diet and systemic sclerosis? In this session, Elizabeth Volkmann, MD, MS explores how nutrition can play a supportive role in managing systemic sclerosis. Learn how to navigate dietary challenges, make informed food choices, and more.

Scleroderma and Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension (PAH)

Monica Mukherjee, MD, from Johns Hopkins University, explains cardiopulmonary manifestations in systemic sclerosis (SSc) and the impact on morbidity and mortality. She defines the role of multimodality imaging in the detection and classification of adverse cardiopulmonary phenotypes in SSc and proposes a clinical algorithm that can lead to earlier diagnosis and improve clinical outcomes.

Scleroderma and ILD

In this webinar, Toby Maher, MD, from the University of Southern California, highlights what people living with scleroderma should know about: the connection between scleroderma and Interstitial Lung Disease (ILD); screening and diagnosis; treatment options; potential future therapies; strategies for managing symptoms and improving quality of life.

Juvenile Scleroderma

In this session, Kathryn Torok, MD, the Director of the Pediatric Scleroderma Clinic, Pittsburgh Children’s Hospital, focuses on Autologous Stem Cell Transplantation (ASCT) as a treatment for juvenile scleroderma and discusses the protocols and outcomes at the Pittsburgh Scleroderma Center.

Managing Scleroderma: Current Approaches and What’s on the Horizon

Scleroderma Disease Management

In this session Ami Shah, MD, MHS, from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, examines cancer screening recommendations for individuals with scleroderma. Topics include reviewing data linking cancer to scleroderma, discussing implications for cancer screening in patients with a recent scleroderma diagnosis and describing the challenges in cancer care in patients with scleroderma.

Scleroderma Lifestyle Strategies

Real hacks from real people. People living with scleroderma share some of their top tips and tricks for managing the complications of this disease.

Scleroderma and Cell Therapy

Cell therapy is an emerging area of interest in scleroderma research—here’s what scientists are exploring. In this session, leading experts discuss the cutting edge of cell-based treatments for systemic sclerosis. Luke Evnin, PhD, Chairman of the Board at the Scleroderma Research Foundation, starts the session with an overview on the landscape of cell therapy in scleroderma. Then, Ryan Crisman, PhD, from Umoja Biopharma, and Elaine Karis, MD, from Bristol Myers Squibb, share insights on CAR T Cell Therapy and Next-Generation Cell Therapies.

Scleroderma Research: How to Get Involved

CONQUEST, an SRF-led Scleroderma Clinical Trial

Clinical trials can seem complex—this session helps break down what people living with scleroderma need to know. Experts from the Scleroderma Research Foundation, leading academic institutions, and pharmaceutical companies come together to demystify the clinical trial process and highlight the latest advances in scleroderma research.

CONQUER, an SRF-led Scleroderma Registry

In a video shared during the 2025 SRF Patient Forum, Shervin Assassi, MD, MS, offers an inside look at this groundbreaking research registry and why it matters for people living with scleroderma. Funded by the SRF, CONQUER is a national longitudinal registry designed to collect data and biological samples from people newly diagnosed with systemic sclerosis. This registry is already accelerating progress by giving researchers access to patient-level information that could lead to better therapies—and eventually, a cure.
