The challenges of the past months haven’t stopped SRF from focusing on funding scleroderma research. They haven’t stopped Melissa, either, as she heads back to school.
Melissa received her scleroderma diagnosis 6 years ago. More recently, this 26-year-old special ed teacher spent the summer hiking with her dogs. She’s also preparing for the coming school year — in which she’ll be teaching online. “Distance learning has challenges on its own, but teaching special ed virtually will be a whole new challenge that I can’t wait to tackle.”
Melissa’s determination and optimism inspire us as we continue to fund scleroderma research in the quest for a cure.
