Did you know that artificial intelligence (AI) could help improve scleroderma treatments? SRF-funded investigator Dr. Michael Whitfield has been working for many years to develop a classifier via an artificial intelligence algorithm for patients with scleroderma based on gene expression data.

The goal is to predict how individual patients might respond to a given treatment. Certain scleroderma treatments can be risky or have serious side effects. Because of this, it would be hugely advantageous for patients to understand upfront whether they are likely to respond to a potential treatment.
