Did you know that approximately 15% of people living with scleroderma have Interstitial Lung Disease (ILD)?
Next week, Wednesday, September 14 is National ILD Day. We’re joining forces again with nine other organizations to drive awareness of ILD, because this is one of the most serious complications that can affect those with scleroderma.
ILD occurs when there is inflammation and scarring to the lung tissue that supports the alveoli—the air sacs within the lungs. Over time, this scarring, called pulmonary fibrosis, makes it difficult to breathe in and out, and reduces the amount of oxygen that can reach the bloodstream.
Help us spread the word—share with your social networks, family, and friends about what ILD is and how it affects those with scleroderma.
