This is global Rare Disease Day, #RareDiseaseDay, a day where we join together worldwide to raise awareness about rare diseases. Today, in particular, our thoughts are with all those in Ukraine and everyone around the globe who live with scleroderma or one of 6,000 other rare diseases.

In the U.S. alone, more than 25 million people are affected by rare diseases. Scleroderma, or systemic sclerosis, is considered a rare disease as it affects approximately 100,000 of those people. 4 out of 5 patients are women, and the average age of onset is 30-50—but scleroderma strikes men, women, and children of all ages and ethnicities.

We invite you to join this global campaign to raise awareness for the millions of people living with rare diseases. And, let’s raise awareness about scleroderma as a rare disease and why we must find a cure. Use the hashtags #RareDiseaseDay and #SayScleroderma to share your story, facts about this disease, or why you care.
