Join us in giving a big hand to SRF Cure Crew members Beth and Lisa for hosting a pickleball tournament fundraiser—raising over $37,000 for scleroderma research!
Beth is a long-time SRF Cure Crew member, with over 20 years of charity golf tournaments and restaurant cause-related fundraisers under her belt. She began fundraising after her mom was diagnosed with scleroderma in 1997. “After I was introduced to the Scleroderma Research Foundation, Tony & I began hosting events to raise awareness and funding to find a cure,” she says. “After losing Mom, we promised to continue that fight!”
Tapping into the Pickleball craze, this year she teamed up with her friend Lisa to produce Picklepalooza, a pickleball tournament where teams competed for places, prizes, and notoriety. More than 75 people attended the event at 5 Sol Winery. Everyone had such a great time that they’ve already started planning to make next year’s Picklepalooza even bigger.
Lisa also has a personal reason for raising awareness and funds. “When my daughter was diagnosed with scleroderma, it gave us the will and determination to fight this disease by any means necessary,” Lisa shares. “The SRF has given us hope that we will one day find a cure.“
Again, a big congratulations to Beth and Lisa on your huge success and thank you for all of your hard work!
