Defending the Foundation of American Science

By February 7, 2025No Comments

Today, we invite you to join us in defending the foundation of American science. SRF Chairman and scleroderma patient Luke Evnin, PhD, has partnered with Peter Rubin of No Patient Left Behind and Peter Kolchinsky of RA Capital Management to champion the role of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the National Science Foundation (NSF) in driving healthcare forward.

“Whether you consider yourself a patient advocate, investor, innovator, or health provider, now is the time to stand up for the NIH and the NSF and all the work these organizations do.

The recent actions of the new Administration—arbitrarily restricting scientists’ ability to speak and travel, stalling the dispersal of previously awarded NIH and NSF funds—are more than bureaucratic disruptions. They are an assault on the foundation of biomedical and technological progress…

The work funded both inside and out by these institutions fuels this industry which has emerged as a strategic national asset and critical pillar of the economy—in addition to being the engine driving healthcare forward…Accordingly, concerns about the intervention are not a matter of politics.”
