Thank you all for an INCREDIBLE Scleroderma Awareness Month. You’ve inspired us with your initiative and creativity. Join us in giving a big shout out to another amazing effort—our collaborators at Scleroderma Outreach Northwest successfully made June the official Scleroderma Awareness Month of Idaho!
Pictured here is Dee B., dx 2012, with the proclamation from Idaho Governor Brad Little in hand. As a Board Member of Scleroderma Outreach Northwest and an Idahoan, she led the charge bring this proclamation before Gov. Little.
“Idaho is a rural state and healthcare resources are often limited. So it is important for Scleroderma Awareness Day to be recognized and promoted as a way to educate the public and policymakers on issues related to scleroderma,” says Dee. “There is currently no cure for scleroderma and many (including physicians) are not aware of scleroderma, so research is extremely important in the quest for a cure and to help raise awareness.”
Congratulations to all at Scleroderma Outreach Northwest on this effort. You’ve brought attention to scleroderma and to how we can work together as we raise awareness of this disease and why we need a cure.
