#WorldSclerodermaDay 2022

Today is #WorldSclerodermaDay, a day created to tell people what it means to have scleroderma and recognize those who live with it. Join us today as we #SayScleroderma so that EVERYONE knows what this disease is and does:

  • Scleroderma is an autoimmune disorder—a rheumatic disease that causes inflammation in the skin and other areas of the body.
  • The body’s own immune system makes too much collagen, leading to the hardening and tightening of the skin and connective tissues (ie: fibrosis).
  • Currently, there is no cure. But significant progress has been made in managing its symptoms and some of the most serious complications.

Thank you for all you have done to help raise awareness and funds this month by telling your stories, hosting fundraisers, and sharing information about scleroderma with your networks. Though Scleroderma Awareness Month is coming to an end, spreading awareness doesn’t stop. Let’s continue to share why people need to know what scleroderma is and why we need research for a cure. #SayScleroderma
